Welcome to the VICTOR 2i2c JupyterHub.

VICTOR, or Volcanology Infrastructure for Computational Tools and Resources (VICTOR), is a pilot service running on open source infrastructure. It is designed for for use by the volcano science community, providing a standard environment and set of tools for all users.

Where can I learn more?

The VICTOR Website provides important information about the platform and our goals, as well as notifications about workshops and other events. For documentation on the JupyterHub and custom scripts, please reference documentation page.

Who can use this service?

VICTOR is open to anyone that a hub administrator (our primary research team) has approved. This includes students of all degree levels, academic scientists, and observatory scientist among others. As VICTOR is constantly changing, students should ensure they are backing up their notebooks and other personal data regularly if they are using this service for important activities.

What is a Jupyter Notebook?

Jupyter Notebook is an open-source web application that allows you to create and share documents that contain live code, equations, visualizations and narrative text. Uses include: data cleaning and transformation, numerical simulation, statistical modeling, data visualization, machine learning, and much more.

What is JupyterHub?

JupyterHub brings the power of notebooks to groups of users. It gives users access to computational environments and resources without burdening the users with installation and maintenance tasks. Users - including students, researchers, and data scientists - can get their work done in their own workspaces on shared resources which can be managed efficiently by system administrators.
